::GRATE AND BARE-ALL::

Crate and Barrel has opened a new "destination" (is it a store? is it a design source? is it a dream?) called CB2.

I enjoy Crate and Barrel's stuff, but a lot of their furniture and furninshings are a little too traditional for me. With CB2, it's seems they've answered my subconscious gripes about their inventory... I love the Detour collection of shelving. And their stationery is quirkily rad!

And then there's Metro, a CB2 pseudoblog with "places to see and be scene." Nice.

So yeah. Less "Crate and Barrel," more "Aluminum Cube and Acrylic Vase."
Comments:
So, Summer... I'm buying a house in a couple of months, and I'm going to need your impeccible style combined with your frugality to help me know where to go to buy stuff.

And, I've never been to an IKEA before... is it open yet?

My favorites are the clearance section of Chiasso, Target (of course), and now IKEA.

IKEA opens August 3 in Frisco. While I'm reticent to go up there on opening day since IKEA openings tend to involve deaths and/or tramplings, the hype-obsessed part of me really wants to go. And take off work to do it. And they have 4 model homes inside: Link.

Do you have a MUJI nearby? Fulfills all one's stationary-nerd's dreams. And I can write them off to tax, which suddenly makes it all worth it.

And yes, avoid the IKEA openings - although I think British people are more prone to trampling/being trampled - something to do with being a bit pent-up most of the time and then going mental at weekends...
