::PAGING JEFF KOENIG::

My fantastic friend Jeff, who is the most DIY person I know, made himself a reproduction of a Rietveld chair. It's colorful, comfortable, and structurally sound. (Think: Mondrian you can sit on.)

Another person's done the same, and is selling them for $70. Apartment Therapy links to his sale and asks its readers, Hot or Not?

Totally Hot. Totally.
Comments:
Agreed, and I have voted to that effect.

Wow! His looks to be more accurate than mine. I made mine to fit my frame better after sitting in an exact reproduction at the Dallas Museum of Art. It's in a corner of a rather stark room, visible from the front door.

The chair evokes two distinct responses: those who like it and those who don't. Those who don't always say the same thing - "Why don't you put some padding on it?" Yes, I use it as a bit of a litmus test.

$70? A bargain. "Full Upright Position", my favorite defunct furniture catalog, had reproductions for $1590.00
